Henry Clay

Austin C. The field trip to Henry Clay's house was awesome! His house was cleaner than mine will ever be! I learned... he tried to be president 3 times. Wow! However, he never was president but most people thought he would've been a good president. He had slaves yet he didn't believe in slavery. My tour guide said he treated his slaves very well. While I was there, I saw his actual carriage that he rode in! Henry Clay's wife had the first piano in Kentucky, too. They had ropes on the bottom of their beds and tightened them every night before going to bed. That's why we say, "sleep tight."
